The 2025 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) GR CUP season is nearing its conclusion after another exciting round of racing at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
The star of the weekend was Brock Stinson who narrowly missed out on recording a perfect round with two wins and a second place; foiled by Pip Casabene in the final race who achieved the first win of his TGRA CR CUP career.
As has become the norm in the TGRA GR CUP, spectators were treated to an action-packed Race 1 on Saturday, with a captivating contest on the tight Gold Coast circuit resulting in multiple exciting manoeuvres and overtakes.
Lincoln Taylor, who entered the round in 2nd place on the championship standings, was the fastest driver in Race 1 but a seven-second penalty saw him drop all the way to 18th, with Stinson recording his first race win of the season ahead of Zane Rinaldi and championship leader Oliver Wickham.
On Sunday, Race 2 started the way Race 1 finished, with more wall-to-wall action and constant jostling. Among the close battle, Stinson managed to separate himself from the pack and ended up winning comfortably, finishing with a five-second lead over Pip Casabene, who recorded his first TGRA GR CUP podium, and Rinaldi, who never left the podium across the weekend’s three races.
Race 3 proved to be an exciting battle between Stinson and Casabene, with Casabene taking the lead at the start of the race before Stinson took it back and led for the majority of the race.
In his first year racing in the TGRA GR CUP, Casabene remained determined and took back the lead on the final lap to take the first win of his career in the format ahead of Stinson and Rinaldi, showcasing the kind of tight contest provided by TGRA GR CUP drivers.
Other strong performances over the round came from William Seal who was unlucky not to stand on the podium, never dropping below 5th place in all three races, and Jett Murray, who moved up to 2nd in the championship standings.
Guest drivers Chris Pither and Warren Luff joined the crew of regular racers for the round, with the latter also pulling double duty as the driver of the new GR Supra Supercar which was showcased for fans ahead of its debut in the 2026 Supercars Championship.
The final round of the 2025 TGRA GR CUP will take place in Melbourne at the Sandown 500 from November 14-16.
