Solid Weekend Performance From Oli Wickham To Maintain Top Of The Leaderboard Position

There was plenty of drama and action in the second round of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) GR CUP held at Queensland Raceway over the weekend with different winners taking out the top spot on the podium across the weekend’s three races.

The weekend started cleanly with the first race on Saturday with Lincoln Taylor taking his first win in the GR CUP, in only his second season of racing, and setting a lap record for the Ipswich circuit of 1:23.1138.

After taking pole position for the second round in a row, Lachlan Evennett finished in second place with Charlie Parker completing the podium.

The second race on Saturday proved somewhat more dramatic with the safety car called onto the track on two occasions and five drivers receiving race penalties.

Amid the drama, TGRA guest driver Fabian Coulthard powered through gaining 13 spots to take the win, ahead of a consistent Charlie Parker, with Kade Davey in third.

The third race of the weekend on the Sunday continued to deliver the tight racing action for which the GR CUP is renown with Coulthard leading for much of the race before a superb and clean move by Jack Westbury took him into the lead.

Westbury went on to take his first ever win in the GR CUP with Oli Wickham and Charlie Parker rounding out the podium for the third race of the weekend.

After an outstanding season start in Townsville and solid second round performances, Wickham remains at the top of the leaderboard with Evennett picking up valuable points to climb from sixth to second place, with Hayden Hume sitting in third.

The big climber after the weekend in Queensland though was Charlie Parker whose triple podium finishes saw him jump from 22^nd place to ninth, after the second of five GR CUP rounds.

Next up, the 2025 TGRA GR CUP heads to Bathurst to take on the iconic Mount Panorama circuit as part of the Repco Bathurst 1000 on 9-12 October.
