Toyota has unveiled the next step in its multi-pathway approach to decarbonisation with the world premiere of the new bZ4X Touring, offering spacious amenity and increased performance with 280kW all-wheel-drive power output.
Due to arrive in Australian showrooms in the first half of 2026, the bZ4X Touring will be one of the next battery-electric vehicles offered by Toyota Australia, providing customers with a range of powertrain solutions as it moves towards achieving carbon neutrality.
The bZ4X Touring complements the stylish and sophisticated bZ4X SUV, which is coming with significant updates in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the bZ4X Touring would provide a practical zero-CO2 tailpipe emission solution for Toyota customers.
“Following on from the bZ4X upgrades announced in March, the bZ4X Touring provides an excellent solution for customers requiring extra cargo space in their electric vehicle,” Mr Hanley said.
“Along with its additional amenity, the bZ4X Touring will also appeal to customers with its uprated all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering the performance and battery range they desire for long-distance touring.”
Compared to the bZ4X, the bZ4X Touring features an extra 140mm of length behind the rear axle as well as a more upright tailgate, which combine to provide approximately 30 per cent greater luggage volume.
The Australian-delivered bZ4X Touring models will be offered exclusively in flagship AWD grade, delivering an impressive 280kW of power – making it the most powerful Toyota SUV to date.
The lithium-ion battery of the bZ4X Touring has been designed with a pre-conditioning function to optimize the battery’s temperature for charging, targeting a rapid charging time of approximately 30 minutes even in cold conditions.
For the Australian market, the bZ4X Touring will use the same, larger 74.7kWh battery announced for the upgraded bZ4X, helping to provide enhanced driving range and customer peace of mind.
Along with the bZ4X Touring, Toyota will continue to develop a range of vehicle powertrain solutions to suit the evolving needs of customers.
Further details on the bZ4X Touring including Australian specification will be announced closer to the model’s arrival in the first half of 2026.
